Murray Announces Grants to District Fire Departments for Student Awareness Program
Several fire departments within the Plymouth and Barnstable District received Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) grants. The grants awarded to five of the eight communities in the district totaled $22,889.
Legislature Approves New Congressional District Map
The House and Senate approved legislation reconfiguring the Commonwealth into nine Congressional Districts. After collecting testimony from fellow legislators and the public, the Special Joint Committee on Redistricting is finally able to celebrate the passage of this legislation.
Legislature Sends Final Gaming Bill to Governor
The Massachusetts Legislature gave final approval to expanded gaming legislation allowing three resort casinos in separate regions of the state and one openly-bid slot facility. The legislation could provide 10,000 to 15,000 long-term jobs in the Commonwealth and generate hundreds-of-millions of dollars a year for the state.
