The leadership of Senate President Therese Murray and Sen. Robert O'Leary in the commonwealth's budget process spared dental benefits for those covered by MassHealth and Commonwealth Care and vital funding for community health centers. As a result of their efforts, thousands of patients across Cape Cod will still be able to receive the preventive and integrated health care they need. Murray and O'Leary deserve thanks for advocating forcefully and successfully for the people of Cape Cod.

As the summer concludes and the 2007-2008 legislative session comes to a close, Citizens Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) wishes to thank you for a successful legislative session for affordable housing…In the past 12 months, the Legislature passed strong foreclosure prevention legislation, authorized a $1.275 billion affordable housing bond bill, and supported increases for state public housing, rental assistance, and foreclosure prevention counseling in the FY09 budget. We are very fortunate to have a Legislature that understands the importance of providing affordable and stable housing opportunities for the Commonwealth’s residents.

The children of families stationed at MMR are Bourne’s children as well and we will continue to step up and ensure they receive a top-notch education. This grant allows the Town of Bourne to better serve the children of our residents and the children of the military families stationed at MMR. We are grateful to President Murray for her continuing efforts to secure these funds and for her overall efforts in supporting education for all of the children in our community.

"Senate President Murray understands how tourism affects the local economy, especially on Cape Cod. Tourism affects the local economy year round and documents the correlation between business referrals and dollars spent in the community. Senate President Murray knows that investing in tourism will result in more dollars coming back into the State and each individual town."
Marie Oliva, President & CEO of the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce
“I feel that no one in State government knows the state budget as well as the Senate President, and whose staff is in continued cooperation and communication with the local officials in her district. In these difficult times, when towns are facing economic disaster, communication and knowledge is essential – Senate President Murray as both.”
John Creed, Silver Lake School Committee
“Senate President Murray is the kind of leader, Senator and person a municipal official like myself is so fortunate to have in my town's corner. Always responsive, she and her professional staff keep communication flowing to help answer questions and solve promises. A tireless worker, she is an enormous credit to her district and to the state. Thank you Senate President for all you do for all of us.“
Linell Grundman, Sandwich Selectman
The passage of this bill shows that if you see a problem, you can go to your legislator and do something. Senate President Murray has been a caring advocate for this legislation and has been by our side throughout the process.
Katie Kearney, speaking about the All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) bill
“I am proud to say that Senator Murray is my Senator. As an elected official she represents the very best of what is essential to be a successful public servant. She knows her district and the State and she always puts that first before personal political considerations.”
Ellen Yaffe, Sandwich Finance Committee
“I would be remiss if I did not say that a great deal of what has occurred in Sandwich as it relates to recent economic development efforts is due to the stewardship of Senate President Murray in assisting our Town with updating its Local Comprehensive Plan (“LCP”). Senate President Murray was highly instrumental with our efforts to secure the necessary funding to update our LCP through a grant from the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism. Now the Senate President has shepherded the SEIC through the legislative process, and Sandwich can utilize this useful tool to implement its LCP allowing Sandwich to embrace its future.”
John Kennan Esq, Chair, Sandwich Board of Selectman
"I would like to acknowledge the incredible assistance Terry has had on all of our projects in Falmouth. She has been a wonderful supporter of housing that’s affordable for the workforce, as well as programs like the Housing With Love Walk that raise money to provide homeless assistance and shallow subsidies for families and elderly who simply can’t pay market rents on Cape Cod. Her tenure in the Senate has benefitted thousands of Cape families, both short term and long term."
Bob Murray, Falmouth Housing Authority Director
