Event marks fifth anniversary of Nicole’s Law
(Boston, MA) –Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth) will be joined by State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan, local fire chiefs and state and town officials in Plymouth and Falmouth on Friday, November 4th to increase awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide and mark the fifth anniversary of Nicole’s Law. Nicole’s Law requires every residence in Massachusetts to be equipped with a working carbon monoxide alarm.
There will be short news conference at each location. Immediately after the news conference, 100 free carbon monoxide alarms will be made available to the public in each location, while supplies last.
Nicole’s law, named after 7-year-old Nicole Garofalo of Manomet who lost her life to carbon monoxide poisoning, was passed by the Legislature and signed into law on November 4, 2005.
The carbon monoxide alarms are being donated by Kidde, a leading supplier of residential and commercial smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers and other life safety products.
