$10.89 million in total unrestricted aid for Plymouth and Barnstable District
BOSTON – As part of closing the Commonwealth’s books for fiscal year 2011, $65 million will be distributed to cities and towns across the Commonwealth, Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth) announced today. Authorized in the enacted fiscal year 2012 budget, the money will be distributed to ensure that no city or town receives less in direct aid than it received in fiscal year 2011.
“This is great news for our cities and towns and it will provide a much-needed boost for local services and projects in our municipalities,” Murray said. “It was a priority in the Senate to ensure that local aid figures were not reduced for the upcoming fiscal year, and by closing out a successful 2011 fiscal year and being fiscally responsible, there will be no cuts to direct local aid. We made a commitment in the budget to return local aid money to cities and towns and we are sticking to that commitment.”
